Cresting the Waves of Creativity-January 2024

What I'm Working On This Month

· writing,publishing,projects,project planning

CROSS-POSTED AT M.X. Kelly's writer blog.

Serving the dual purpose of showing readers how I plan and employ processes on the writing and creative projects I give myself, and also as a reminder to myself (I sometimes need one) of what I have been working on and what recent projects do I need to keep my focus on.

For the first month of the new year, I'm working on a few projects, some older and some new. Of course, listing them here almost certainly means The Plot Bunneh may steal into my brain and tempt me with new ideas, but that is expected and welcome. I'm always grateful for new input from the muses in my life.

These are the top projects for this month (not all of them are writer projects):

  •  I have started the formating process for my upcoming e-book of short poetry about Florida nature and life, titled Swamplily Zen. I have added the poem titles to a long Scrivener chapter file and will soon begin adding the poems. I have a launch date for this of 3/1/2024.
  • I need to start the formatting process for my next collection, another collection like Four & Twenty Blackbirds with previosuly published stories. World Wide Web will have some previously unpublished stories and poems as well and it will have more stories and poems than the aforementioned.
  • I am prepping for "Post-It Note Poetry" month in February, quite by happy accident, as our gentleman-painter Bob Ross would say. I felt an itch for poetry over the holidays and ended up writing several new haiku and senryu, plus nine new "3 Ways of Looking" poems, which are linked haiku/senryu in three verses linking together ideas about any particular subject that tickles my fancy.
  • Also planning a blog crosspost for "Post-It Note Poetry" month and I hope to also cross-post my progress and include some of my poems from the month.
  • I have been continuing to add more words to my stories Dare Mo Shinjinai, The Teacup-Mending Ritual and the Breaking of the Universe, and my longer work, birds trees water sky.
  • I need to update my personal Airtable bases on my new designs that I have uploaded to my TeePublic store and I need to learn the Shopify system so I can begin selling things on Etsy and other markets as well. The Shopify part may be shuffled off to the backburner of February or later as I have a lot on the plate, writing-wise.
  • I am concurrently still researching for two upcoming projects: fiction novel or novella So Lonesome I Could Cry and the nonfiction Exoracism & Hollywood.

These are all the projects I am working on this month, and truly it is enough to keep me busy for the next twenty-two days.

See you in February.
