2023: Promises to Keep, and Many Miles Before I Sleep...

· resolutions,publishing,writing,2023

Although I seem to manage making some of my resolutions come true every year, there are always items that seem to not get resolved, or get pushed aside...because, let's face it, life hasn't been easy for any of us these past few years. So, I am going to keep it all reasonable.

My 2023 list of necessary to-do items:

  • Walking/hiking. Getting fit and keeping fit.
  • Publish my ebooks Four & Twenty Blackbirds (a collection of previously published sci-fi, fantasy and horror stories and poems) and little paper parasols (short poetry book featuring haiku, tanka, and a few examples of the form I created, the octain). These are published under the M.X. Kelly pseudonym.
  • Keep researching novel So Lonesome I Could Cry (things go chaotic for government worker Sten Mulligan when he starts looking into his friend's disappearance while visiting a national park). This will be published under the pen name Joz Varlo.
  • Keep working steadily on drafts for The Strange Blue Days of Dr. Fountainbrew and Zen & the Art of Alien Diplomacy. Zen will be published under the name Joz Varlo.
  • Work on more short stories and add to my novelas. In short, I need to write more. Need to write more blogs as well, but I am notoriously bad about that. Novellas to be worked on include: birds trees water sky and others.
  • Figure out how to make some side cash on Vellum and Canva by formatting books and making covers for others--and/or get a data entry type part-time job. I'm paying for a used car now that needed a little electrical work from the beginning.
  • Heal and love myself and meditate on manifesting goodness and positivity in my world. This one may me the most important of all. I'm an empath and somewhat sensitive (to energies) and it is hard for me to relax and trust my environments. I need to get better at that.
  • Start looking for a new place to live and make plans to move. I know I will have to stay in Florida for the time being. Eventually, I would love to be a snowbird, though I am not financially stable enough for that yet (this is whereI hope to manifest some luck in that area). I would, if I could, split time between Florida and live for most of the year in one of the "four corners of the east" states (OH, KY, WV, PA). Those being the states where lots of weird stuff happen (purportedly) and I could hang with weird people like me and do weird stuff like join a paranormal group.

That's it for my resolve in the coming year. There is a cross-posting with less detail on the M.X. Reo Kelly page.

I hope you all have a fab 2023 and that you get everything you want (or at least need) in the coming year.

Peace!
